【The Origin of Momijiya】
Kyoto Takao Momijiya is an inn located at the entrance to the Takao mountains, which is North-West from the Kyoto city center, running along the main road (route 162), Shuzan-kaido Road. Takao is a famous spot in Northern Kyoto blessed with gorgeous fall leaves and Makinoo and Toganoo trees. Best of all is Jizou-in Temple, located in the ancient complex of Jingo-ji Temple nestled in Takao's mountainside. The view from Jizou-in Temple in autumn, looking out over the gorge, is simply spectacular.
Momijiya was founded in 1907. They also serve as representatives of the Jingo-ji and Kouzan-ji Temple clergy. For generations the inn housed pilgrims headed to Jingo-ji Temple, offering them room and board.
