Momijiya - The Takao-sanso is a quiet traditional inn surrounded by Takao's exquisite natural beauty and the Kitayama cedars. We use seasonal ingredients in our Kyoto cuisine so you can taste the best of what every season has to offer.
The Momijiya, Takao-sanso is located high in the mountains, with Japanese style rooms spread out through three floors, all undergirded by iron. Renovated in 2004, the Momijiya now offers an open-air bath called "Sora" and a partly open-air bath called "Yama".

Partly open-air bath in spring

open-air bath in winter
The view from your window looks out onto luscious green and in autumn, the region is enveloped in brilliantly colored leaves. In winter, a silver snowscape unfolds into the distance. The outdoor baths present a sight that is simply spectacular.

Torch azalea

Spring garden and rhododendrons
In spring, the Momijiya's garden features rhododendrons, torch azaleas, and other mountain flowers. In fall, the changing leaves are an unforgettable display. Staying in the Momijiya Takao-sanso you will feel that you have truly experienced Kyoto and Takao.
The open-air viewing bath named "Sora" and the open window-style viewing bath named "Yama" were completed in 2004.
